5 Ways to Maintain Motivation & Keep Your New Years Resolutions in 2024

Let’s crush our goals this year! While I’ll always be here to keep you inspired, I want to share these tips so that you go into the New Year with the right mindset and all the tools you need.

  1. Create a Vision Board – I LOVE and truly believe in vision boards! They’re a creative way to clarify what you want to accomplish, while being able to see exactly what your ideal year looks like. Seeing what the outcome of your goals looks like brings excitement and inspiration. For it to be the most effective, place your board where you’ll see it every day. I have mine as my home and lock screen background on my phone and I made one for my laptop background too! Click here to see my digital boards that I made using the Landing app and website.
  2. Identify The Purpose of Your Goals – What’s the “why” and how did it become important to you? Decide what value it will bring to you or your loved ones after accomplishing your goals. What are you going to do after you’ve reached it? Write down your resolutions with their benefits attached, so that you always remember how significant they are. For example, mine is “I want to learn how to sew so I can make pretty dresses that fit me perfectly”.
  3. Break It Down into Baby Steps – To prevent feeling overwhelmed, turn your big goals into daily tasks. I encourage you to aim high and be ambitious, while really looking at the journey that you’ll set on once you decide to go for it. If your 2024 resolution is something you didn’t accomplish last year, think about what made you lose track. If you can create a small to-do list every day and start your mornings with the affirmation “Every day I am closer to reaching my goal”, you’ll take away so much stress. Most of us mentally hold ourselves back without even realizing it. Starting next month, I want you to get out of your own way and let yourself be great!
  4. Choose Rewards for Reaching Milestones – This is especially important if your end goal feels far out of reach. If we’re always putting ourselves through difficult tasks that we don’t feel like doing, we’ll build bitterness and insecurity towards our dreams and reject them. Make your journey exciting by gifting yourself in a way that aligns with your resolutions and matches the size of the achievement. If your goal is to have 1,000 sales for your small business, you can throw a party after reaching 500. If you want to wake up early every day, reward yourself with your favorite breakfast. Gifting yourself is personal and can be anything that will get you excited and feel closer to winning.
  5. Join a Community for Accountability – Your group of motivators can be found in person or online. Choose what’s the most comfortable and accessible for you. Taking classes, entering competitions, or joining a Facebook group can be helpful in finding others with the same goals as you. You don’t need lots of people to stay accountable, but I recommend having more than one buddy, just in case they aren’t available at the same times as you or if they decide to focus on different goals for themselves.

Becoming a livestreamer gave me the community I need to stay accountable towards my goals for the year. I created my vision board live and we discussed what each of us put on ours. I created the #cakefacecrew hashtag to share posts on Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok throughout the day so that we can stay connected and motivated even when I’m not live.

Post your vision board on social media with the hashtag #cakefacecrew so I can see the amazing things you’ll accomplish this year!
