At-Home Glow Up

I’m a homebody and hate having to go out for self-care. I learned how to do my own beauty services because of how much I dread salon and nail shop visits. Whether you have a bit of social anxiety like me or you want to save some money, I’m sharing with you all the tools I use to DIY my beauty routine and still be have a “high maintenance” look.

Skin

For body and face, I prefer to be hairless. That’s when I feel most comfortable and confident. I shave my body with the Miss A 5-blade razor after using a body scrub. Make sure to use a body butter after to stay smoother longer!

I love to dermaplaning my face to take off dry dead skin (which I deal with a lot) and peach fuzz. This makes makeup glide on smoother, and I notice a pretty glow afterwards. I bought my Dermaflash from Nordstrom in 2019 to get ready for my wedding, and it still works great! My skin is still so soft now from using it 3 days ago. I soothed my face with an ice roller afterwards and applied moisturizer that I keep in the skincare fridge.

The Dermaflash also helps me clean up the stray hairs around my brows before I pluck them into shape.

I’m not an expert at self-tanning, but I adore it! It gives me a new glow, since I never get a tan outdoors now. I haven’t had any streaks or issues with the Ulta Collection Tanning Mousse. I love that it takes only a few hours and isn’t super messy. The price is hard to beat too.

Hair

I’m in the best mood when my hair is dyed and styled. I always dye my hair before an event, because I get grey hairs! My color now is Black Cherry by Wella and I’ve gotten so many compliments. It’s the perfect subtle red for girls that want to keep their hair dark. I don’t like the way I look in light hair colors, so this is my favorite shade ever.

I’ve had my Baby Buttercup from Drybar for YEARS and it’s still amazing. I think I’ve had it since 2016 or 2017. I’ve dropped it and use it all the time with no issues. I’m so glad it’s travel size so I never get tired while blow drying my hair. I use a big round brush and set my hair with rollers to keep in overnight.

Nails

I struggle the most with my nails, but I really dislike the nail salon enough to keep the DIY route. I’ve also invested a lot into supplies and learning how to do acrylic nails. I watched TikToks, YouTube videos, and the nail tech when I last got my nails done to learn everything. You can get the tools you need from almost anywhere. I’ve bought from a local nail supply (thanks to my cosmetology license), Shein, Temu, and Amazon. If you need ideas for what to get, my Target Storefront has items that I love for DIY manicures.

Foot baths are amazing but when I don’t have time to soak my feet during a busy week, I take a pumice stone in the shower to scrub dead skin off. Paint them either the same color or the same shade as your fingernails and you’ll look so put together!

Please let me know if you need a tutorial on any of these routines I listed! I’m making YouTube videos now and can still do quick TikToks if you like those more.
