Before and After: Shampoo and Conditioner Bars

In the new year, are you traveling more, becoming environmentally friendly, or looking for a new hair routine?

I was recently gifted the Leafinty shampoo and conditioner set to review, and I was pleasantly surprised with how well they cleansed my hair! The only solid shampoo I’d seen were LUSH bars, and I never heard of anyone raving about them. I also thought that they’d dwindle down really quickly like bar soap does. After realizing they work well for my oily dyed-red hair, I looked into the pros and cons of switching from liquid to solid shampoo.

My first impression of these while unboxing was that the smell is amazing. I have a bad sense of smell and usually don’t notice fragrance. I absolutely love being told that I smell good or that my hair smells good, so this is a big pro for me. I know that this might be a con for people that choose fragrance-free to avoid allergies. This particular brand is made with clean, natural ingredients, so I’m hoping this works for those with sensitive skin.

The package included a soap saver bag and wooden soap dish, so I felt more comfortable about how long they’ll last. One of the benefits of solid shampoo is that they’re more concentrated than liquid, so you end up having to use less and get more bang for your buck! Also, these are more convenient when traveling since there’s no liquid restriction or leaking bottles to worry about.

I tried these on my livestream first and was told to use the shampoo while it’s in the bag for a better lather. It’s true! The conditioner is really lightweight and also rinsed out well. I didn’t notice any red dye rinsing out of my hair, so it’s safe to say the formula isn’t harsh at all. One of the cons I read was that in hard water areas, these leave a residue in your hair. Luckily, I have soft water and it didn’t take much for my hair to feel squeaky clean.

Now let’s see how it worked for me! Here’s the before on the top row and after on the bottom:

My “after” is just air-dried and brushed. I can’t believe how soft my hair felt!

I’m loving these as an option when shopping. I always try new products and haven’t completely lost my love for good old liquid shampoo in recyclable plastic bottles. There’s lots of ways to be environmentally conscious in the new year with your beauty routine!

What do you think? Will you completely switch to solid shampoo, or use these just for travel?
